A New Shepherd for the Flock: Installation of His Grace Archbishop Khalid Rehmat as Archbishop of Lahore

Lahore, March 28, 2026 — The Archdiocese of Lahore marked a significant and grace-filled occasion with the installation of His Grace Khalid Rehmat, OFM Cap, as Archbishop of Lahore. The solemn Holy Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Lahore. 

The celebration began with the Rite of Installation, presided over by His Excellency Germano Penemote, Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan. Following the rite, His Grace Archbishop Khalid Rehmat presided over the Eucharistic celebration, formally assuming his pastoral ministry as the shepherd of the Archdiocese.

Among those present were members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan, including His Eminence Joseph Coutts, Cardinal of Pakistan; His Grace Benny Mario Travas, Archbishop of Karachi; His Grace Joseph Arshad, Archbishop of Islamabad-Rawalpindi; and His Excellency Samson Shukardin (Hyderabad), Indrias Rehmat (Faisalabad), and Yousaf Sohan (Multan). A large number of diocesan and religious priests, men and women religious, and lay faithful were also in attendance.

At the conclusion of the Mass, His Grace Archbishop Khalid Rehmat expressed his gratitude to God, to the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV, to the Apostolic Nuncio, the bishops, clergy, religious, and the faithful. He assured all present of his willingness to serve with humility and to work faithfully in the vineyard of the Lord

The celebration was marked by prayer, unity, and a spirit of hope as the Church in Lahore welcomed its new Archbishop.
