Faith, Eucharistic Devotion, and Community Shine at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Sialkot
Sialkot – June 22, 2025
The parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Adha, Sialkot, rejoiced in faith and thanksgiving as it celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The day was marked by deep Eucharistic reverence and a joyful spiritual milestone as around 200 children received their First Holy Communion.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Baber Khushi, with Fr. Clarence Hayat, Parish Priest of Adha, concelebrating. The liturgy was preceded by a reverent procession, led by the First Communicants, who, dressed in white, symbolized purity and readiness to receive the Real Presence of Christ for the first time.
In his homily, Fr. Clarence Hayat offered a theologically rich reflection on the mystery and centrality of the Holy Eucharist in Catholic life.

“The Eucharist is not about something; it is about someone—and that someone is Jesus Christ Himself,” he proclaimed. “In the consecrated host, Christ is truly, really, and substantially present—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.”
His message emphasized the transformative power of the Eucharist, inviting all faithful to renew their devotion to the Blessed Sacrament, and encouraging the children to cherish this sacred encounter for the rest of their lives.

The Mass was a celebration not only of Christ’s abiding presence in the Eucharist but also of the faith formation journey of the children. Their reception of First Holy Communion marks an essential step in full participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
At the conclusion of the liturgy, Fr. Clarence expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Baber Khushi, Br. Youab George, catechists, teachers, and the parents for their tireless efforts in preparing the children both spiritually and practically for this holy moment.
“Today we thank God for these children who have welcomed Jesus into their hearts. May their love for the Eucharist grow stronger with every Mass,” Fr. Clarence said.
The Feast of Corpus Christi reminds the faithful that the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1324). The celebration in Adha was a true testimony of this teaching, uniting the community in adoration, thanksgiving, and joyful witness.
