Archbishop Khalid Rehmat Celebrates First Pastoral Visit and Confers Confirmation at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Kot Lakhpat

Lahore, April 19, 2026 — His Grace Khalid Rehmat OFM Cap, Archbishop of Lahore, made his first pastoral visit to St. Francis of Assisi Church, marking a significant and grace-filled moment in the life of the parish community.

He was warmly received by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Henry Paul OFM Cap, along with Rev. Fr. John Joseph OFM Cap and Rev. Fr. Zabaran Mughal OFM Cap. The faithful accorded the Archbishop a heartfelt welcome, presenting garlands and bouquets as expressions of love and devotion, while doves were released as a sign of peace.

A solemn Eucharistic celebration followed, with the Archbishop presiding over the Holy Mass in a prayerful outdoor setting. This celebration held special significance as it was his first Holy Mass in the parish as Archbishop of Lahore. During the liturgy, His Grace administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 145 children, invoking the gifts of the Holy Spirit upon them.

In his homily, the Archbishop reflected on the theological and spiritual importance of the Sacrament of Confirmation, highlighting its role in strengthening the faithful in their Christian vocation and mission within the Church. He congratulated the newly confirmed, their families, and appreciated the dedicated pastoral efforts of the parish priest and his team.

At the conclusion of the celebration, Rev. Fr. Henry Paul expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for his pastoral presence and leadership. A commemorative shield was presented in his honor. The faithful once again expressed their affection through traditional gestures, offering garlands and a turban as signs of respect and filial devotion.

The visit concluded in an atmosphere of deep faith, unity, and joy, strengthening the bond between the Archbishop and the faithful of the parish.
