Celebrating Catechetical Week and Bible Sunday: Honoring Teachers, Embracing Hope

DarulKalam RC joyfully celebrated Catechetical Week and Bible Sunday with deep reverence and enthusiasm, bringing together catechism teachers from across the region to honor their invaluable service in the mission of evangelization and faith formation.

The day began with a peaceful Morning Prayer, filled with reflection and gratitude. Special remembrance was given to Pope Francis, whose pastoral care and leadership had guided the Church with humility and love. The celebration also warmly welcomed the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, marking a significant and hopeful moment in the life of the Church. His first message as pontiff was shared with the teachers, offering words of encouragement, faith, and renewed purpose.

A brief introduction followed, highlighting the significance of Catechetical Week and Bible Sunday. The message of Bishop Indrias Rehmat, Chairman of the Catholic Bishop Commission for Catechetics, was read aloud, calling on all catechists to “take an oath to feel the presence of God in their lives and reflect that presence in the lives of others—becoming sources of hope in a world that needs it deeply.”

To support the celebration, the Catechetical Commission prepared a special booklet and calendar with the central theme: “Pilgrims of Hope”. This booklet offered reflections and thematic materials to guide catechists in their work. Various themes from the booklet were shared and discussed during the session to deepen understanding and enrich their spiritual formation.

The calendar, presented alongside the booklet, featured symbolic elements: a photo of Pope Francis, the Cross, and liturgical colors—each chosen to emphasize the spiritual essence and unity of the Church’s teaching mission.

The event concluded with an experience-sharing session, where catechism teachers reflected on their journey of teaching and ministry. Their heartfelt testimonies echoed a strong sense of dedication and renewal in their vocation to spread the Word of God.

This celebration was not only a tribute to the tireless work of catechism teachers but also a moment of spiritual renewal and encouragement for all who teach the faith and walk as pilgrims of hope.
