Lahore – June 5, 2025
Addressing the clergy and priests of the Archdiocese of Lahore on June 5, 2025, Fr. Inayat Bernard shared a touching testimony about his ongoing mission of pastoral care to Pakistani Christians in Thailand, a ministry entrusted to him by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Pakistan on June 4, 2019.
Fr. Bernard explained that he regularly celebrates the Holy Eucharist with the faithful in Bangkok and surrounding areas. Each month, he offers two Masses at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and one Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. On the fourth Sunday, he celebrates an English-language Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, while on remaining Sundays, he offers online Masses to remain spiritually connected with the faithful who cannot attend in person.
Beyond the altar, Fr. Bernard walks with the people—literally and spiritually. He makes regular pastoral visits, often travelling by ferry, bus, or sky train, ministering to families and small groups in their homes. Whether rain or heat, he reaches his people each evening in different areas of Bangkok, carrying with him the Word of God and the presence of the Church.
During his visits, he engages the faithful in Scripture reading, offers catechetical instruction, and shares videos related to the liturgical season to nurture their faith. He accompanies them in their joys and sorrows, offering support and comfort, and urging them to remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ in all the ups and downs of life.
His Grace Archbishop Benny Mario Travas, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Lahore and Chairman of Caritas Pakistan, thanked and appreciated Fr. Bernard’s tireless service, expressing gratitude for his dedicated missionary spirit and wishing him continued strength in this vital apostolate.
The session began with an opening prayer led by Fr. James Chanan OP, upon the invitation of Very Rev. Fr. Asif Sardar, Vicar General of the Archdiocese.
Fr. Inayat Bernard’s testimony is a shining example of pastoral closeness, missionary zeal, and the Church’s global mission to care for her scattered but faithful flock—no matter where they are.
