The Youhanabad community gathered in solemn prayer to commemorate the 11th anniversary of Servant of God Akash Bashir. Led by Rev. Fr. Akram Javed, the faithful honored the young martyr’s sacrifice with a Holy Mass and a moving candle-lighting ceremony at his home parish.
Eleven years after the tragic attacks on St. John’s Catholic Church and Christ Church, we honor the 15 lives lost—including the heroic Akash Bashir. Now recognized as a ‘Servant of God’ by the Pope, Akash’s sacrifice remains a beacon of courage and religious harmony in Pakistan.
As the Church in Pakistan and the universal Church commemorate the birthday of Servant of God Akash Bashir on June 22, we reflect on the extraordinary life and witness of a young man whose final words—“I will die, but I will not let him in”—became a living gospel of sacrificial love.
