The Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan (CBCP) continues its mission of promoting love for Sacred Scripture through a series of formative activities held in January 2026 across Sindh. These initiatives brought together clergy, lay leaders, and faithful for study, reflection, and celebration of the Word of God. The following three activities highlight CBCP’s ongoing commitment to biblical formation in the local Church.
1- Completion of On-Going Bible Study 2025 and Launch of Mishnah Volume II

26 January 2026 | Caritas Hall, Hyderabad
The solemn conclusion of the On-Going Bible Study 2025 was held at Caritas Hall, Hyderabad, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Shahzad, Executive Secretary of the Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan, as Chief Guest. Certificates were awarded to successful participants and resource persons in recognition of their dedication to biblical studies.






Mr. Akbar Raphael, Diocesan Director of CBCP Hyderabad Diocese, welcomed the guests, while Mr. Tariq Tufail encouraged participants to become members of Kalam Ke Lakh Dost (KKLD) and Studies in Biblical Sciences (SBS). A significant highlight of the event was the official launch of Mishnah Volume II by Fr. Joseph Shahzad and Mr. Saleem Anjum. Mr. Anjum also presented an overview of the rigorous translation process, underscoring the scholarly effort and commitment involved in producing this important biblical resource.
Fr. Joseph Shahzad expressed appreciation to Mr. Akbar Raphael and Mr. Saleem Anjum for their valuable contributions and encouraged participants to engage deeply with the newly launched volume.
2- One-Day Bible Seminar on “Dei Verbum” at St. Joseph Parish, Tando Adam

St. Joseph Parish, Tando Adam, hosted a One-Day Bible Seminar on the theme Dei Verbum, organized by Fr. Shahzad Khokhar OFM Cap. The seminar brought together 57 participants and began with the solemn enthronement of the Holy Bible.



Fr. Shahzad Khokhar warmly welcomed Fr. Joseph Shahzad, Mr. Tariq Tufail of the CBCP staff, and Mr. Akbar Raphael. In his session, Fr. Joseph Shahzad reflected on the 60th anniversary of Dei Verbum, emphasizing its enduring significance for understanding Sacred Scripture, theology, and God’s self-revelation in Jesus Christ. Mr. Tariq Tufail invited participants to continue their biblical journey through CBCP programs such as KKLD and SBS.
The seminar concluded with words of gratitude by Mr. Akbar Raphael, who thanked the organizers, resource persons, and participants for their active engagement with the Word of God.
3- St. Michael Parish, Mirpurkhas Hosts Bible Seminar and Concludes 2025 Study Program

St. Michael Parish, Mirpurkhas, hosted a One-Day Bible Seminar on Dei Verbum alongside the successful completion of the On-Going Bible Study 2025. Organized by Mr. Riaz David in collaboration with Parish Priest Fr. Chemistone Moonga CSSp, the event gathered 65 participants.
The program opened with the enthronement of the Holy Bible and a formal welcome to the guests, including Fr. Joseph Shahzad, Mr. Tariq Tufail, and Fr. William Emmanuel, Rector of St. Bonaventure Seminary. Fr. Joseph Shahzad offered in-depth reflections on Dei Verbum, highlighting its foundational role in Catholic theology and biblical understanding, while Mr. Tariq Tufail encouraged ongoing formation through KKLD and SBS.



The event concluded with a solemn closing and certificate distribution ceremony, presided over by Fr. Joseph Shahzad as Chief Guest, marking the official completion of the participants’ biblical studies.
Through these initiatives, the Catholic Bible Commission Pakistan continues to nurture a deeper appreciation of Sacred Scripture, fostering both intellectual formation and spiritual growth among the faithful.
