A Day of Cross Meditation and Reflection: “Let’s Journey Together in Hope”

On Wednesday of Holy Week, the Catholic Women’s Organization (CWO) of the Diocese of Lahore held “A Day of Cross Meditation and Reflection” under the theme “Let’s Journey Together in Hope.” Over 50 women from various blocks of Youhanabad and members of the New Life Ministry gathered at St. John’s Catholic Church to contemplate the pathway to Christ’s crucifixion and prepare their hearts for Easter.

The program opened with communal prayer and a Scripture reading from Matthew 26:41—“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” Ms. Shaheen Yousaf, Diocesan Coordinator of CWO Lahore, then outlined the day’s objectives: to deepen participants’ connection to Jesus’ sacrifice, to foster an appreciation of His love, and to draw spiritual strength from His death and resurrection.

Brother Faisal Shamoun led the principal meditation, reflecting on Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. He painted a vivid picture of our Lord praying alone after the Last Supper, wrestling with fear, and asking His disciples, “Could you not watch with me for one hour?” Through this passage, Brother Faisal highlighted how suffering—though universal—takes on redemptive meaning when united to the cross.

“When we take up our own crosses,” he said, “we discover our lives have purpose—both here and in eternity.”

He invited the women to pause frequently, breathe deeply, and enter into Christ’s suffering through silent reflection. Brother Faisal reminded them that temptations, disappointments, and challenges will arise, but persistent prayer and surrender to God’s will equip us to persevere.

To conclude, he encouraged the participants to carry this spirit of prayer into their homes, inviting families and friends to join them in meditating on Christ’s passion as a spiritual preparation for Easter.

Ms. Reta Samon, Director of New Life Ministry, expressed heartfelt thanks to Brother Faisal for his “thoughtful and spiritual guidance.” The event closed with a final prayer, as the women departed strengthened in hope and united in faith.
